SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A proposal aimed at removing the last remnant of slavery from California law failed to pass the state Senate on Thursday after Gov. Gavin Newsom's administration warned it could cost taxpayers billions of dollars by forcing the state to pay prisoners a $15-per-hour minimum wage.

The U.S. Constitution bans slavery but says it's OK for the government to force people to work — known as “involuntary servitude” — as punishment for a crime. Many state constitutions say the same thing, including California's.

Some state lawmakers wanted to change California's Constitution to ban all forms of involuntary servitude. They wrote an amendment and planned to put it on the ballot this fall for voters to approve. But Thursday, the California Senate rejected the amendment over concerns of how it would impact the state prison system, which requires inmates to work and often pays them less than $1 per hour.

Lawmakers could try again next week. But if the amendment doesn’t pass by June 30, it won’t be on the ballot this year.

America’s incarceration rate falls to lowest level since 1995

BY JOHN GRAMLICH

The U.S. incarceration rate fell in 2019 to its lowest level since 1995, according to recently published data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), the statistical arm of the Department of Justice. Despite this decline, the United States incarcerates a larger share of its population than any other country for which data is available.

Despite these downward trends, the U.S. still has the highest incarceration rate in the world, according to the World Prison Brief, a database maintained by the Institute for Crime & Justice Policy Research at Birkbeck, University of London. The database compares incarceration rates across more than 200 countries and territories using publicly available data for each jurisdiction.

The Slaughter of Jayland Walker

Some things never change in America. Fireworks on the Fourth of July. Groundhog Day.
Dressing up for Halloween. Donald Trump having a toddler’s temper tantrum about, well,
pretty much everything. And of course, let’s not forget, the casual murder of Black Americans at
the hands of a militarized, brutalized and out of control pseudo-police state.

On June 27 th , Black American Jayland Walker was executed by police in Akron, Ohio. Walker was
being pursued by a team of police officers, following a road stop. While that is a police
prerogative, albeit many times completely uncalled for, what followed is beyond the realms of
uncalled for.

Damn, this was beyond the realms of sanity itself. By the latest count, the police
fired 46 shots into Walker. Naturally, he was unarmed. Some of the shots appear to have been
to the back. The injuries were battlefield horrific, with massive trauma to his heart, lungs and
major arteries. The medical examiner that performed the autopsy described Walker as having
come to a “brutal, senseless death.” Some things never change in America.

Now comes the pearl clutching coupled with police ranks coming together to protect their own.

The eight officers that gunned Walker down have been placed on paid administrative leave
while the matter is investigated. Heaven forbid these clear as day murderers were to be
deprived of their salaries, let alone their lives. Some things never change in America.

The Business of Mass Incarceration

The Business of Mass Incarceration

Debbie Bourne, 45, was at her apartment in the Liberty Village housing projects in Plainfield, N.J., on the afternoon of April 30 when police banged on the door and pushed their way inside. The officers ordered her, her daughter, 14, and her son, 22, who suffers from autism, to sit down and not move and then began ransacking the home. Bourne’s husband, from whom she was estranged and who was in the process of moving out, was the target of the police, who suspected him of dealing cocaine. As it turned out, the raid would cast a deep shadow over the lives of three innocents — Bourne and her children.

The murder of a teenage boy by an armed vigilante, George Zimmerman, is only one crime set within a legal and penal system that has criminalized poverty. Poor people, especially those of color, are worth nothing to corporations and private contractors if they are on the street. In jails and prisons, however, they each can generate corporate revenues of $30,000 to $40,000 a year. This use of the bodies of the poor to make money for corporations fuels the system of neoslavery that defines our prison system.

Prisoners often work inside jails and prisons for nothing or at most earn a dollar an hour. The court system has been gutted to deny the poor adequate legal representation. Draconian drug laws send nonviolent offenders to jail for staggering periods of time. Our prisons routinely use solitary confinement, forms of humiliation and physical abuse to keep prisoners broken and compliant, methods that international human rights organizations have long defined as torture. Individuals and corporations that profit from prisons in the United States perpetuate a form of neoslavery.

$17 Billion Cannabis Tourism Industry Will Only Continue Growing

Just as there’s a whole tourism niche for oenophiles who have their hearts set on experiencing premier wine-producing regions, learning about their process and sampling their products, it seems the industry seeing the rise of a similar special-interest segment that caters to cannabis consumers.

Over the past couple of decades, attitudes towards marijuana have evolved, with the herb gaining legitimacy in the public eye as a prescribed treatment for various medical conditions (it’s difficult to demonize the substance that septuagenarian grandmas smoke daily).

From there, responsible recreational use of cannabis by adults has become less and less stigmatized, while state governments have begun to realize they’re sitting on an untapped resource in terms of tax revenue.

While it’s still technically illegal at the federal level, individual U.S. states are increasingly decriminalizing the sale and use of weed, with medical marijuana now being permitted in over 35 states, and 18 states have also legalized recreational marijuana and are steadily reaping the rewards. It’s even looking like several more states might do the same by the end of the year.

With legality and regulations varying vastly across state lines, sometimes even from city to city, it only makes sense that Americans would be willing to travel for cannabis-based experiences. A niche tourism market was bound to arise, and it’s already becoming too big to be ignored by the broader travel and hospitality sector for long.

Forbes reported that cannabis tourism in the U.S. is already a

$17 billion industry and could make a massive contribution to the country’s $1.2 trillion overall tourism economy.

Let’s break down true kingship shall we:

  1. A king takes care of his family: We know without a shadow of a doubt that most black men do not take care of their family. They are loose with their penises and are the reason why 84% of black children are born out of wedlock.

  2. Kings marry: I’ve mentioned this in many an article the black marriage rate. 30% and only 6% of black men are married to black women. 70% of black men do not marry. So no way these 70% are kings. With 24% out of 30% of black marriages being interracial, there is no way that these black men are “kings” for the black community. You become a king of the black community when you marry a black woman, making her a queen.

  3. Kings are not broke: A king has wealth. Black men for the most part do not have wealth. Statistically 80% of black men are poor. Dirt poor and are the main reason why black women and children spend a minimum of two generations in poverty.

  4. Kings leave their children something when they die: Black men leave their children absolutely nothing for the most part. More black people hold Go-Fund Me’s for men dying than any other race. It does not dawn on black men to get life insurance policies for themselves or their children. So when they die the family has to get a fundraiser together in order to afford to bury his trifling ass. Meanwhile, the children are left with nothing. No estates, no inheritance, no anything to break them out of poverty.

Black Biden Voters Have A Slave Mentality

Stop letting him whip you to the polls

You know, as we discuss a lot of the problems within our community when concerning voting and politics and definitely with the Democratic Party, it’s truly amazing how much abuse that Black people feel that they should take.

It’s like they feel it should be a part of their lives to let these folks milk them like cows.

The more and more I look at the majority of our community, they still have a perpetual slave mentality where they want to make sure that every other group of people gets fed instead of them.

These plantation negroes are just cool with getting nothing but a pat on the head from Massa.

For example, we have all this inflation that’s going on all over the country. I know it’s affecting everyone, but Black people have suffered the most from it.

We already suffer from economic deprivation as a group.

So far during Joe Biden’s presidential term, he has specifically given tangible resources to all these other groups except us.

He’s looked out for the Asian community, the LGBT community — and it’s like every week he’s giving Ukrainians billions of dollars for whatever they need.

Yet, he still to this day, has not provided any specific tangibles for the people that were solely responsible for putting him in office.

And yet, I still see some Black people still yelling “Vote or Die!”

tipvets_desert_storm.png

Stop and Frisk: The Obsession of Eric Adams

NYC Mayor Eric Adams has many obsessions that he has brought into office with him. His ego,
naturally. His liking for appointing corrupt officials to public office is also well known. But the
one that really gets his juices flowing, that gets his pupils dilated more than anything else? The
abomination that is “Stop and Frisk.” In December 2021, just prior to taking office, he touted
the idea of re-introducing it to the streets of NYC, a desire that still burns bright within him to
date.

However, given the recent decision of the Supreme Court that it is legal for New Yorkers
to conceal carry a firearm, Adams’ Stop and Frisk fetish is now on very shaky ground.

Stop and Frisk has always been highly contentious, and rightly so. Its most basic logic is
something more so akin to Nazi Germany than 21 st century NYC and America – that people are
potentially guilty of something, but without a sniff of due process. Law enforcement are
allowed to act on their own hunches, grievances and prejudices in doing so.

It’s essentially the
philosophy of “your papers please” and there’s nothing you can do about it for fear of
apprehension. In the rest of the Western world, Stop and Frisk is barely known, let alone
enacted. Yet again another case of American Exceptionalism proving to be exceptionally wrong
and at odds with the rest of Western democracy.

There is though with Stop and Frisk the over-powering stench of racial profiling and blatant
discrimination. The statistics more than back this up:
 Since 2002, over five million New Yorkers have been subject to the ignominy of Stop and
Frisk.
 In 2019, 13,459 New Yorkers were subject to Stop and Frisk. Of those, 9% were White,
while 88% were either Black or Latino.
 Nine out of ten New Yorkers who have been subject to Stop and Frisk have been
innocent.

Source: Stop-and-Frisk Data | New York Civil Liberties Union | ACLU of New York (nyclu.org)

While to the rest of us on Planet Sane, those figures alone should condemn Stop and Frisk to
the trash-can of history without delay. On Planet Not-Quite-So-Sane, where Eric Adams has a
second home, that data is a mere blip of inconvenience and therefore of no concern to him. But
now the Supreme Court has loomed large, and Adams fevered dreams of further subjugating
those he supposedly represents has now taken a serious legal body-blow.

Given that the nation’s supreme legal entity has ruled that carrying a concealed gun in NYC is
constitutionally protected, where does that then leave Stop and Frisk? Your first reaction may
be in a dumpster on fire. And yes, you’d be right.

The target of Stop and Frisk is in the
overwhelming number of cases, either drugs or weapons, primarily guns. The Supreme Court’s
ruling effectively neutralizes the weapons part of that equation. And much as Adams might
hate to admit it, his illegitimate NYC fiefdom pales into legal insignificance in the face of the
highest court in the land.

The Democratic Party is not in a good place: Its political agenda is stalled, its president is historically unpopular, it’s suffered a string of policy defeats at the hands of the Supreme Court, and it looks like it’s headed for an unfavorable election result this November. If that weren’t enough, it also seems to be losing its traditional voter base.

There was some alarming news for the party in the latest New York Times Upshot/Siena College national poll, with white, college-educated voters making up a larger share of Democratic support than non-white voters for the first time in the survey’s six-year history. This contrasts with the pattern seen over most of the last few decades, in which the GOP tended to preserve its traditional advantage with white college graduates, while Democrats relied on the overwhelming support of non-white voters.

AMERICA USE TO BE ABOUT BIG IDEAS

THE FIST BUMP FROM HELL

Of modern languages, English is arguably the most flexible and adaptable. When
unable to come up with its own new word where required, it simply “borrows” from
another language, without shame.

Consequently, there are near endless ways to
describe near endless things, both good, bad and in-between. However, when it comes
to today’s GOP, the English language is left scratching its head to describe how mind-
blowingly disgusting they truly are.

And in that respect, the GOP’s disdain for the
country’s veterans just went even lower, if that’s possible. And that’s regarding the
PACT act pantomime that Republican Senators thought a great idea to inflict on some
of our nation’s most vulnerable citizens.

TIPNATION (1).png
_THIS COUNTRY AND SUFFERED UNIMAGINABLE (1).png

Three of the region’s four U.S. senators decided Wednesday to hold sick veterans hostage to their own anger. It’s appalling and childish. The senators — Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley of Missouri, and Roger Marshall of Kansas — voted against blocking a filibuster of the PACT Act, a measure designed to provide funding to treat veterans exposed to toxins and burn pits. The bill has been under discussion for years. It would cost about $30 billion annually, a pittance in a multitrillion-dollar federal budget. But the cost is less important than the cause: The nation has promised to help sick veterans, and voted Wednesday to break that promise.

AOC chides Alito for 'politicized' comments on global leaders' reactions to overturning Roe

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito for making "politicized" comments about world leaders' reaction to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

"Remember: it was Alito’s opinion that leaked," Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a tweet Thursday. "That fact paired with his politicized remarks below should be alarming to anyone."

To those who aren’t masochists, the very idea of voluntarily inflicting pain upon yourself is
counter-intuitive. Put another way, who wants to suffer, something that we are supposed to be
pre-programed to avoid. In a person, masochism is eye-brow raising. But how about masochism
in tens of millions of Black Americans? Sadly, that’s what we have on our political plate right
now – the Black Biden voter and all that that entails. None of which is any good.
The warning signs were always there with Biden. He’s a self-proclaimed “centrist” which in
American politics is deemed a liberal. To the rest of the non-American world, a centrist is just to
the left of Attila the Hun. Biden has a proven record of rubbing shoulders with known racists
merely for the sake of political expediency. He has a fixation with seeing Black Americans being
behind private prison bars. Biden is also obsessed with continuing the failed “War on Drugs”
inherited from previous administrations. He does nothing, literally nothing, about police
brutality that targets Black Americans above all else, whether in office or before that. So, with
that litany of infamy, why the Hell did Black America vote for masochism and go
overwhelmingly for Biden in the 2020 election?
There is a mistaken perception within America’s Black population that the Democratic party is
their natural home because, well, what’s the other option? Trump’s GOP? Which is of course
nothing more than underscoring the not fit for purpose American two-party system. The lesser
of two evils is, by its very name, still evil. The idea that there is night and day difference
between the Democrats and Republicans is a fallacy. Sure, there may be a fringe of genuine
progressives on the left of the Democrats, but they are for sure a minority. The majority,
including Biden, are simply Republican-lite. Look at NYC’s mayor Eric Adams and his hang-up
with “Stop and Frisk” – another Democrat with a fetish for oppressing people of his own race.
And let’s not kid ourselves, Stop and Frisk is just another ploy to have yet more Black Americans
incarcerated in private prisons.

Black America’s Biggest Problem: Joe Biden & Democrats

Dear Fellow Veterans,

We want to share four quotes from General Dwight E. Eisenhower;

“I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity.”

“You don't lead by hitting people over the head—that's assault, not leadership.”

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.”

“Neither a wise man nor a brave man lies down on the tracks of history to wait for the train of the future to run over him.”

His words are as poignant and meaningful today as the day he first verbalized them. As veterans and soon-to-be veterans, we can no longer allow political elites with no military experience to dictate policy on our behalf. With gerrymandering, redlining and segregated communities, America has never truly been the melting pot it claims to be.

The military is truly America's greatest melting pot. We trained, fought, laughed and loved people from all walks of life. We visited far away lands to experience cultures that most people only dreamed of visiting. More importantly, integrity at all times was the standard.

Fellow veterans, today is the day we rise up and take political and economic control of our future and our loved ones’ futures. We are a group of veterans, historians and social tourism activists who are starting the Travel in Peace (TIP) Political Party—it’s the Progressive’ counterpoint to the Jim Crow Democratic Party. We simply want all people to Travel in Peace no matter their race, culture, gender or sexual orientation.

Our ultimate goal is world peace and to have compassionate veterans with thoughtful worldviews run the White House and Veterans Administration for the good of veterans and all citizens. Just like we came together in strategic planning sessions, we can come together to lead this great country to eternal peace. It's time for us to collectively remove the Party of War (with no veterans) from power and replace it with the Party of Peace. For those who served under President Obama, the majority of the world greeted you with opened arms and smiles, not so much today.

But we aren’t just about politics. Economics is also key.  We understand the economic power of travel and the 100 billion dollars plus shared economy. That’s why we created TipbnbTipcruise and TipTours—collectively known as TipNation.NYC—to assist in funding TIP Party and

getting corporate lobbyists out of our policy decision making process.

Who I Do Not Write For-LISHONE

Recently, I’ve written two or three articles that had the words fuckin’, dick, shit and fuck.

Fuckin’ to do with fucking.

Dick to do with that dick attached to men.

Shit, as a way to emphasize to both men and women.

Fuck to tell my brother and men out there to shut the fuck up about women’s bodies.

Now, my slogan is clearly emphasized that I am not for the weak. Yet, a few women lately have decided to leave comments letting me know that my cursing, even if and when I’m cursing at men makes them uncomfortable. Respectfully, I don’t write for religious folks or old-fashioned folks.

My grammar is both intelligent and at times vulgar. It’s going to have curse words in it depending upon what I’m writing and the point I’m trying to make. Sometimes the point requires me to tell men to shut the fuck up. Just that harsh because women have been asking them for years nicely to stop and they haven’t. So, sometimes vulgarity is how you get the point across.

Let’s grow up, fucking is what grown folks do.

Sucking dick is what grown women do. Writing sucking his penis is not my style and nor does it make much sense or have the same effect.

The reality is that people do stupid shit. I’ve written the words foolish, dumb and my word of the month was stupid. August is approaching, who knows what my word will be to describe the piss poor behavior of so-called adults will be.

I write like a grown-up living in a grown-up world. I don’t write like this is church or your religious household upbringing and nor am I going to start. My work is raw, real and not for the weak. I stand by that. I’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t so I’m going to do it my way.

Comments like these are why I’m expanding my platform outside of Medium and to my podcast. My motto for the podcast is, “If you’re triggered, see a therapist.” Y’all think my writing is raw, shit, wait until you hear me. Policing my vulgarity doesn’t work for me. I’m grown and I bet dollars to donuts that if I was a man no woman would bite an eye on not a word I write.

For the women complaining about my vulgarity, thank you. You’re just confirmation that I am doing the right thing in taking my teachings and message elsewhere. It’s confirmation to spend a lot less time here in August and move forward on my own platform.

Spirit moves in mysterious ways and your bothered spirit just bothered my spirit and confirmed its time for me to go and grow.
